Summary

You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) to the Board for Correction of Naval Records (BCNR) of SECNAV BCNR.

Duties

Help

  • You will review applications received from former and active members of the Navy and Marine Corps and their heirs and legal representatives alleging errors or injustices in their naval record.
  • You will conduct preliminary reviews or proposed testimony and evidence, perform legal research and prepare comprehensive summaries of facts, interpretive opinions, and discussions.
  • You will present to the board, orally and in writing, a balanced summary of the salient facts based on a comprehensive examination and analysis of the application and related data.
  • You will prepare the Board's findings, conclusions, and recommendations for the Secretary of the Navy for final adjudication.
  • You will prepare letters notifying the applicant, counsel, and all other interested parties of the Board's decision and reasons for denial or approval.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Interpret and apply knowledge of DoD/DoN military personnel policies, principles, regulations, concepts, laws, and precedent decisions in order to advise the Board of Naval Corrections.
  • Demonstrate skill in analyzing facts, identifying problems, reporting findings, making conclusion and recommending the appropriate corrective actions in military records.
  • Experience utilizing military pay and records systems during the military separation and discharge process.
