1. MUSIC-SPECIFIC PEDAGOGY & DIFFERENTIATION
1.1 Classroom & Performance Environment
• To be responsible for effective classroom management that ensures every student can learn, including safe and appropriate use of instruments, rehearsal spaces, and recording equipment.
• To create an inclusive environment that accommodates students with widely varying prior music experience.
1.2 Diagnostic Assessment & Differentiated Instruction
• To conduct initial diagnostic assessments of students' prior music knowledge
• To design differentiated learning pathways for students at varying proficiency levels within the same IGCSE classroom.

1.3 IGCSE Syllabus Delivery
• To deliver the full CIE IGCSE Music curriculum
• To prepare students for external examinations and coursework submission deadlines.
2. ARTICULATION WITH CHINESE NATIONAL CURRICULUM (CNC)
• To develop bridging units that help students transfer CNC-acquired musical knowledge into IGCSE contexts.
• To collaboratively write weekly/unit plans (with other music teachers or relevant arts faculty) and upload them to ManageBac or the school server.
• To include clear learning objectives, differentiated tasks, and practical activities (e.g., rehearsal schedules, composition workshops, listening analysis) in all shared planning documents.
3. ASSESSMENT & DATA-INFORMED INSTRUCTION
3.1 Formative & Summative Assessment Design
• To create authentic formative assessments aligned with IGCSE criteria
• To design summative assessments including mock listening exams, recorded performance submissions, and final composition portfolios.
3.2 Data Tracking & Exam Preparation
• To track student progress across the three IGCSE components using syllabus grade descriptors.
• To use assessment data to identify patterns (e.g., class-wide weakness in world music listening, recurring composition structure issues) and reteach accordingly.
• To manage coursework submission timelines and ensure portfolio completeness.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• To contribute to the wider school community by organizing or supporting music showcases, concerts, assemblies, house music competitions, and exhibition performances.
• To be professionally consistent with the school's mission and values.
• To participate in school workshops, meetings, and CIE/external workshops.
• To complete any other job assigned by the Heads of Secondary.
