Job Description

Litigation Attorney

A highly regarded, mid-sized law firm with a strong litigation backbone is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate to join its growing practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters typically handled by much larger firms, in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

The Firm

This firm operates as a true full-service platform, representing both corporate and individual clients across a wide spectrum of complex legal matters. The litigation group is known for taking on high-stakes disputes and routinely going toe-to-toe with the largest national firms, either as lead counsel or trusted co-counsel. The firm emphasizes practical strategy, creativity, and cost-conscious advocacy without sacrificing quality or rigor.

Attorneys come from top-tier law schools and were trained at some of the largest and most respected law firms in the country, bringing big-law caliber experience to a more agile and balanced environment. The culture values initiative, responsiveness, and long-term professional growth.

Experience:

The individual must have complex commercial litigation experience. We are looking for someone with experience in breach of contract claims, intellectual property disputes, shareholder derivative actions, and other business disputes.  We would also like the individual to have complex litigation experience ( difficult civil cases ).  Ideally the candidate would come from a mid-size to large firm in NJ.  If coming from a NY firm that is fine as well.

Practice Focus

The associate will work on a wide range of litigation matters, which may include:

  • Complex commercial and business disputes
  • Employment-related litigation and counseling matters
  • White-collar and regulatory-related disputes
  • Insurance coverage and general civil litigation
  • Estate, trust, and fiduciary litigation matters

Cases are handled from inception through resolution, and associates are given meaningful responsibility and client exposure early.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions
  • Manage discovery, including written discovery and depositions
  • Conduct legal research and draft substantive briefs and memoranda
  • Participate in court appearances, mediations, and trials
  • Collaborate directly with partners and clients on case strategy

Qualifications

  • 3 to 7+ years of solid litigation experience, buisness litigation preferred
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience managing cases with a high degree of autonomy
  • Admitted and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Background in commercial or complex litigation preferred

Why This Opportunity

  • Sophisticated work without big-law bureaucracy
  • Clear path to increased responsibility and advancement
  • Exposure to challenging matters typically reserved for large firms
  • Collegial, team-oriented environment with real mentorship
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
