Lockheed Martin is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build, and support secure, resilient platforms that power mission-critical systems across our Defense & Aerospace portfolio. As part of the Information Technology (IT) organization, you will work at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, and cybersecurity, creating robust environments that enable development teams to deliver capabilities quickly, reliably, and securely. In this role, you will design and implement cloud-native and on-premises platforms that meet stringent security, performance, and availability requirements for government and defense customers. You will develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code to provision compute, storage, networking, and platform services, while standardizing patterns for logging, monitoring, and observability. Working closely with software, systems, and cybersecurity engineers, you will help define platform architectures, automate build and release processes, and enforce configuration baselines that support secure-by-design principles. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration environments, and platform services that enable rapid, repeatable deployments across multiple environments, from development labs to highly regulated production networks. You will troubleshoot complex platform issues spanning applications, infrastructure, and security controls, driving root-cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes. Your work will emphasize automation, repeatability, and reliability, using modern DevSecOps practices to reduce manual effort and increase system consistency. Because this work supports national security missions, you will operate within highly regulated environments and must adhere to strict compliance standards and secure coding and configuration practices. You will collaborate with cybersecurity teams to integrate security controls, vulnerability scanning, and compliance reporting directly into the platform and pipelines. You will help document platform designs, operational runbooks, and support procedures, enabling other engineers and operators to work effectively within the ecosystem you build.
