The role requires working three 12-hour shifts, typically from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. The nurse will provide care in a telemetry PCU, specializing in the management of stroke and neurology patients. Clinical skills required include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management. The nurse will perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central and peripheral line care. Successful candidates will also be responsible for medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration), and respiratory support such as nasal cannula and oxygen administration. Neuro PCU experience is essential, including familiarity with isolation precautions and telemetry settings. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:5, with a staffing goal of 1:4. The unit employs remote telemetry monitoring and has implemented tele-sitting to increase coverage. Candidates should be prepared to float within their skillset as needed. The unit treats adult and geriatric patients and experiences an average daily census of 25. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and phlebotomy, among others. Additional procedures may include chest tube management and oxygen modes like CPAP and BiPAP. This position requires strong teamwork and the ability to manage a fast-paced environment.
