Position Overview The Sports Event Operations Intern will gain hands‑on experience supporting the planning and execution of national‑level sports events and tournaments. This role will work closely with our National Operations Manager as well as our Assistant Director of Tournaments and Events to assist with logistics, event preparation, and on‑site execution of events including the Steel National Camp. This internship is ideal for students interested in careers in sports management, event operations, marketing, or athletics administration. The intern will play an important role in ensuring our events run smoothly while gaining exposure to many aspects of sports event management. Key Responsibilities National Program & Event Coordination Assist with sending and managing invitations for national program participants Respond to inquiries from players, parents, and coaches Maintain organized records of participant information and communications National Camp Planning & Logistics Assist in preparing camp schedules and program materials Help coordinate rooming assignments for players and staff Support equipment planning and organization Assist with travel coordination including staff flights and bus transportation Team Gear & Kit Management Collect player sizes and coordinate ordering of team gear for soccer and baseball programs Coordinate with printers for apparel and gear branding Transport gear to and from vendors as needed Assemble and organize team kit bags for camp participants Event Operations Support Serve as a Field Marshal during tournaments and events Assist with on‑site event logistics and operational needs Help research venues and compile facility information for future events Support vendor outreach and coordination Partnerships, Recruiting & Outreach Research coaches and Directors of Coaching (DOCs) in regions where events are hosted and compile contact lists Assist in recruiting college coaches to attend showcases and events Help identify and research potential partnerships Marketing & Communications Assist with managing and posting content on social media for events and camps Support promotion of events, showcases, and camps Additional Duties Support various projects and tasks that arise during the summer event season Attend and assist with the execution of the National Camp and other events Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment Interest in sports event management and operations Comfortable working evenings and weekends during events Willingness to travel and work on‑site at events Preferred Skills Experience with athletics, club sports, or event planning Strong research and data organization skills Familiarity with social media platforms Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team What You'll Gain Hands‑on experience planning and executing large‑scale sports events Exposure to event logistics, vendor management, and operations Networking opportunities with coaches, sports administrators, and industry professionals Experience working with national‑level sports programming Equal Employment Opportunity Employer We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
